Providing Nutritious Food
For grocery pickup: Call FISH at 707-996-0111 weekdays between 9 a.m. – noon, except holidays. The Food Room is open for food pickup on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 1:30 p.m. Food is available to anyone who calls in that day before noon. Nutritious groceries include enough for 3-5 days of meals and are geared to accommodate the size of each family. Bags are often supplemented with cooking oil, condiments, and personal toiletry items.
For grocery delivery to home-bound seniors: On the first Wednesday and third Wednesday of each month, FISH volunteers provide supplemental food deliveries for home-bound seniors. Any senior without transportation to pick up food at the FISH Food Room may request to be added to the home delivery program. The food boxes are generally identical to the food distributed at the Food Room, but there are a a few adjustments made for the unique needs of seniors. Call FISH at 707-996-0111.
Holiday Food Baskets: In mid-December, a large basket of essential food items for a holiday dinner is distributed to preregistered recipients. Preregistration for Holiday Baskets is conducted through La Luz and the Sonoma Community Health Center and FISH Central in November. Baskets are picked up at Hanna Boys Center or delivered. Community donations, including the proceeds from Bell Ringing, and help from additional community volunteers make this program possible.
